238 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the action, if any, taken against persons using private cars to carry people for hire or reward; the prosecutions resulting on a county basis; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5077/97]
I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information requested by the Deputy is not readily available and could be compiled only by diverting to the task a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.
I have been assured by the Garda authorities that any complaints that are made to the garda with regard to persons using private cars to carry persons for reward are vigorously pursued and are dealt with according to the law.
