Vol. 475 No. 4

Written Answers. - Ministerial Appointments.

Brian Cowen

Question:

112 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Health the position in regard to the appointment of a chief executive at Peamount Hospital, Dublin; when the appointment was approved by him and the Eastern Health Board; if any former chief executive is serving as a consultant at the hospital; and, if so, the cost and purpose. [5241/97]

Limerick East): Peamount Hospital is funded by the Eastern Health Board under section 65 of the Health Act, 1970. Accordingly, I have no function in the appointment of the chief executive officer at the hospital or in the other matters referred to by the Deputy. I have, therefore, requested the Eastern Health Board to look into the matters raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to him.
