Smith asked the Minister for the Environment if further consideration will be given to the submission made by the county managers and county engineers of Cavan, Monaghan and Longford councils in relation to the need to upgrade and develop the route from Dundalk through Monaghan, Cootehill, Cavan town to Sligo; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the current inadequate routes are hindering economic development in this border region; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
