Vol. 475 No. 6

Written Answers. - Army Barracks.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

155 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Defence the plans, if any, he has for the refurbishment of the Army barracks in Castleblayney, County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5585/97]

A number of significant improvements to the accommodation at Castleblayney military post were undertaken during the last few years at a cost of more than £200,000 — principally refubishment of the gymnasium, construction of new officers' mess premises and upgrading of the heating system. Consideration is being given to refurbishing a billet block during 1997 in addition to which routine maintenance work will, of course, continue to be carried out as required.
