Vol. 475 No. 7

Written Answers. - Exchequer Funding.

Seán Kenny

Question:

224 Mr. S. Kenny asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the amount of matching Exchequer funding which was provided to Aer Lingus for each of the years from 1989 to 1993 to match European Structural Fund funding under the Operational Programme for the Occupation Integration of Young People, Objective 4, for Pilot Training. [5919/97]

Under Ireland's 1989-93 community support framework, Aer Lingus received European Social Fund support to train pilots through the Operational Programme for the Occupational Integration of Young People (Objective 4). The intervention rate from the Social Fund was 65 per cent of the total eligible costs of training, subject to a ceiling of aid available. My Department did not provide any matching Exchequer finance to Aer Lingus for the purposes outlined by the Deputy.
