Question:258 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will have arrangements made with An Bórd Gais to extend the national gas grid to Killarney, County Kerry. [5899/97]

At my request Bord Gáis Éireann has carried out a detailed investigation of the possibility of a major extension of the natural gas network to a number of areas, including Killarney.
I am considering the board's report on the study and I am having discussions with Bord Gais in that regard.
