Question:

187 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice the quantity of each of the commonly used illegal drugs seized in the past five years and to date in 1997; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6307/97]

In the following table I have set out the information supplied to me by the Garda authorities in relation to the amount of drugs seized by them from 1992 to 1996 by weight or, in the case of Ecstasy tablets, the number of items.

The figures for 1996 are provisional and no figures are yet available for 1997.
