The files in my Department's possession relating to children placed in the old industrial and reformatory schools contain a small number of references to cases involving adoption. Of the over 30,000 records examined to date, less than 30 contain reference to adoption.
My Department is currently examining the issue of access to the data. The Deputy will appreciate that great sensitivity is required in the handling of this matter.
