Question:217 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if research will be carried out by his Department to monitor the effects of the broken ceasefire on Border regions. [6745/97]

Bord Fáilte, as the national tourism marketing organisation, is responsible for carrying out ongoing research and analysis in relation to regional distribution of visitor numbers.
While such research monitors the regional performance of overseas tourism, tourism from Northern Ireland and domestic tourism, including those regions incorporating the Border counties, Bord Fáilte advise that final data in relation to 1996 regional performance is not yet available.
