Vol. 476 No. 5

Heritage and Cultural Events (Televisual Access Protection) Bill, 1997: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to protect access by the public to the televising in the State of an event, or events of kind, deemed by the Minister to be of significance to the heritage and culture of the State, or otherwise deemed to be of national importance, the televising of which should in the opinion of the Minister, be available free to the general public and to provide for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid.

Is the Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since this is a Private Members' Bill, the Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' time.

I move: "That the Bill be taken is Private Members' time."

Question put and agreed to.
