Vol. 476 No. 6

Written Answers. - Vandalised Cars.

Tony Gregory

Question:

115 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if she will request the gardaí at Fitzgibbon Street station, Dublin 1, to find an alternative location to store vandalised cars in view of the fact that the current location is in front of the homes of local residents (details supplied) in Dublin 1. [7776/97]

Cars involved in serious road accidents, stolen cars, and cars seized under section 41 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 are brought to Fitzgibbon Street Garda station by gardaí. These are generally stored in the yard to the rear of the station until they are collected by their owners or disposed of as scrap. It is proposed to develop a car compound at the Talbot Complex in Santry to accommodate those cars seized under section 41 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994.

In the interim every effort is made to have all cars to Fitzgibbon Street removed without unnecessary delay.
