117 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Justice the number of gardaí of all ranks and civilian staff stationed at Ballinasloe, Ballygar, Ballymoe, Barnaderg, Corofin, Craughwell, Creggs, Dunmore, Eyrecourt, Glenamaddy, Gort, Kilchreest, Kilcolgan, Kilconly, Kilconnell, Killimor, Kilrickle, Kiltormer, Kiltulla, Kinvara, Loughrea, Menlough, Milltown, Mountbellew, Monivea, Moylough, New Inn, Portumna, Shanaglish, Tynagh, Tuam, Williamstown, Woodford, Salthill and Galway city on 1 January 1994, 1 January 1995, 1 January 1996, and 1 March 1997; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The detailed allocation of Garda personnel to individual areas is a matter for the Garda authorities. They have expressed concern, and I share that concern, about providing the kind of detailed information sought by the Deputy in the interests of security and crime prevention generally. However, I can provide the information on a Garda district basis which is set out in the tables overleaf.

I understand from the Garda authorities that Ballinasloe, Kilconnell, Kiltormer, Menlough, Mountbellew and Moylough form part of the Ballinasloe District. Ballygar and Creggs form part of the Roscommon District. Barnaderg, Corofin, Dunmore, Glenamaddy, Kilconly, Milltown and Williamstown form part of the Tuam District, Kiltullagh, Monivea and Galway form part of the Galway District. The Ballymoe area forms part of Castlerea District. Craughwell, Kinvara, Shanaglish, Gort, Kilchreest and Kilcolgan form part of the Gort District, Eyrecourt, Killimor, Kilrickle, Loughrea, New Inn, Portumna, Tynagh and Woodford form part of the Loughrea District. It should also be noted that up to 16 May, 1994, Salthill was part of Galway District.
