Written Answers. - Mobile Telephones.

Ivor Callely

Question:

304 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the total cost of mobile telephones and their use for the year ending 1996 for personnel working in her Department; and the estimated costs for 1997. [8533/97]

The total cost of mobile phone equipment for head office personnel in my Department during 1996 was £46,914. Based on the expenditure to date in 1997, it is estimated that the cost this year will be about £30,000. Mobile phones are issued to staff in my Department who need to be contactable outside office hours or when they are working away from head office.
