98 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Education if she will appoint a full-time technician and 42 additional part-time craft assistant hours to the Limerick School of Art and Design; when she will give approval to this request; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10210/97]

It is a matter for the regional technical college Limerick to make appointments to posts within its sanctioned staffing allocation.

The question of additional staff resources being sanctioned for the regional technical college Limerick will be considered in the context of the college's Operational Programmes and Budget submission for 1996-97 and 1977-98 having regard to the requirements of the regional technical college sector generally, available resources and Government policy on the limitation of numbers employed in the public service.
