Vol. 477 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

111 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Education if she will review the case of a school (details supplied) in County Westmeath which seeks the retention of a seventh assistant in view of developmental needs and in view of the fact that the school has accepted enrolment applications for two Down's syndrome junior infant pupils for September 1997; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10304/97]

No decision has yet been taken regarding the staffing allocations for primary schools for the 1997-98 school year. However, it is anticipated that final decisions will be made very shortly, at which stage my officials will review the situation and correspond with the school authorities in the matter.
