Vol. 478 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Security.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

183 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the application for security fencing at a school (details supplied) in Dublin 11; if she will expedite matters in respect of this application in view of the fact that the school has suffered from frequent and repeated acts of vandalism; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10730/97]

I have requested my Department's architectural staff to commence the architectural planning for the provision of a fence at the school to which the Deputy refers.

This project will be progressed as quickly as possible through the planning stage. When all the planning work has been completed, a decision on the timing of the tender and contract process will be taken in the light of other priority projects, and available financial resources.
