Vol. 478 No. 1

Written Answers. - Courts Accommodation.

John Ellis

Question:

191 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Justice the current situation regarding a refurbishment of Longford Courthouse; the reason for the long delays to date; and the date on which works will commence. [10375/97]

Consulting architects have been appointed for the refurbishment of Longford courthouse and they have prepared outline plans. Consultations have taken place with the Judiciary and staff regarding these plans. Longford County Council, who are acting as my Department's agents in this matter, are now proceeding to appoint the design team to prepare full tender documents for the project. In the meantime, full vacant possession of the offices at the front of the building is being sought.
