The Coolock Community Law Centre has been given an assurance of continuing funding in 1997 at a level to be negotiated and it is expected this will be determined shortly. In the meantime, a total of £60,000 has been provided this year by way of interim payments to enable the centre to continue operations.
Funding for the Coolock Community Law Centre has been provided by my Department for a number of years. Last year, a total of £120,000 was provided comprising core funding of £100,000 and an additional payment of £20,000 to enable the centre to clear an overdraft at the end of 1996. A total of £100,000 each year was given by my Department in 1995 and 1994.
