224 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of persons currently on community employment schemes; if he will give a breakdown between men and women and an analysis of each for those on unemployment assistance or unemployment benefit, lone parent's allowance, invalidity pension, REHAB allowance and other allowances. At the end of March 1997, there were 40,553 participants on community employment. The following table gives a breakdown between males and females participating under each eligible category.
