Vol. 478 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Máirín Quill

Question:

65 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Health the reason the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association has never received a national lottery allocation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10485/97]

Limerick East): Lottery allocations are made to organisations on the basis of their applications and taking account of competing demands for funding. The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association made an application for lottery funding in 1996. However, owing to the number of competing applications, I was unable to give a grant to the association but will give sympathetic consideration to the application it has made for funding in 1997.
