Vol. 478 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

212 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when payment for a 1996 ewe premium will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in the correct name in view of the fact that the delay is causing financial hardship. [1119/97]

The person named did not submit any application under the 1996 ewe premium or sheep headage schemes. An application was, however, made under these schemes in his mother's name and all payments due on foot of this application were issued in her name. The herd number under which the above payments were issued has recently been registered in the name of the person named. He has submitted an application under the 1997 sheep schemes and if his application is found to be in order payments will issue in his name. Payment of the first instalment of the 1997 ewe premium scheme is not scheduled to commence until next July or August and payments under the sheep headage scheme will fall due next September or October.

Joe Walsh

Question:

213 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to pay a tuberculosis hardship grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [11192/97]

An essential prerequisite for eligibility for hardship grant is that the holding continues to be restricted following a full herd retest. As the holding of the person in question was derestricted following the first full herd retest, he is not eligible for payment of hardship grant.

Frank Crowley

Question:

214 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details supplied) in County Cork is entitled to receive an income supplement. [11196/97]

The person in question is entitled to receive income supplement for four full months from 29 March 1995 i.e. the date from which more than 10 per cent of the animals in his herd were removed as reactors. The appropriate income supplement will be paid shortly.

Payment of reactor grants and income supplement in respect of the recent breakdown is under consideration.
