Question:

105 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice the number and total cost of journeys whereby prisoners were transported to courts in Dublin from places of detention outside Dublin over the past 12 months in unofficial vehicles, including taxis. [11640/97]

Over the past 12 months unofficial vehicles have been used on 163 occasions to transport prisoners to courts in Dublin from institutions outside Dublin. Expenditure on this service was £26,300.
