Vol. 478 No. 7

Written Answers - District Medical Officers.

Michael P. Kitt

Question:

93 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Health the proposals, if any, he has to help the small number of existing, retired and widowed spouses of district medical officers in the country; and if the level of salary and pension will be improved in view of the fact that they are under severe financial strain (details supplied). [12236/97]

Limerick East): The matters referred to by the Deputy are currently under discussion between the Irish Medical Organisation, which represents district medical officers, officials of the Department of Health and the health boards. It would therefore not be appropriate for me at this time to make any further comment on these matters.
