Vol. 478 No. 7

Written Answers - Polling Stations.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

115 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for the Environment if he has issued a directive to all county registrars that polling booths in private houses are to be closed for the forthcoming general election; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11935/97]

In October 1991, my Department instructed returning officers that private dwelling houses are not suitable for polling purposes and should not be used. This instruction was repeated in the most recent instructions to returning officers.
