85 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to pay the 20 per cent balance of 1996 suckler cow, ten month and 22 month premia to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [12325/97]
The person named applied for premium in respect of seven animals under the 1996 ten month special beef premium scheme and an 80 per cent advance totalling £504.95 has already been paid to him in respect of those animals. He also applied for premium in respect of 13 animals under the 1996 suckler cow premium scheme. Since he holds a quota of 12, he was paid £1,346.20 on 4 November 1996 representing an 80 per cent advance in respect of 12 animals.
There is a problem with his 1996 area aid application related to a land parcel where the area declared by the applicant is considerably in excess of the area for the parcel in my Department's land parcel identification system records.
My Department is now writing to this person with a view to resolving the discrepancy. Payment of any balances of suckler cow premium and special beef premium will issue as soon as this discrepancy is resolved.

The person named applied for premium in respect of 13 animals under the 1996 special beef premium scheme and his application has been processed for payment. However, he indicated on his area aid application that he held a milk quota at 1 April 1996 but no confirmation of this quota has yet been received from the creamery concerned. Confirmation is required in order to ensure compliance with stocking density requirements.
My Department is now writing to the person named and payment will issue as soon as the matter is resolved.
