138 Mr. Power asked the Minister for the Environment if he has examined a request for funding from the Arts and Culture Centre in Newbridge, County Kildare; if so, when he will approve this request; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12443/97]

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Howlin)

I gave approval in principle on 1 May 1997 for the library headquarters element of a proposal for a library headquarters-arts centre in Newbridge, County Kildare. The funding of the arts centre element is a matter for the Department of Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht.
