Question:

230 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Finance if he or Ministers of State at his Department have appointed a programme manager or a special adviser or both; if so, the salary paid to them; the terms of their contracts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15007/97]

Neither I, nor the Minister of State at my Department, Deputy Cullen, has appointed a programme manager or special adviser.

Question:

231 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the number of non-established civil servants employed in his Department and by the Ministers of State at his Department; their status and function; the costs in terms of salary or consultancy fees; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15023/97]

There are 20 non-established civil servants employed in my Department, exclusive of its associated offices including the Office of the Revenue Commissioners, the Office of Public Works, the Valuation Office, the Office of the Ombudsman and the Civil Service Commission.

Fifteen of the non-established civil servants are service officers whose pay scale is £ 165.38 to £ 249 per week. A further two of the non-established civil servants are service attendants whose pay scale is £ 165.38 to £ 245.80 per week.

The remaining non-established civil servants, including three appointed by the Minister of State at my Department, are as set out below. These were appointed by me and the Minister of State at my Department since assuming office.
