Vol. 480 No. 6

Written Answers - National Museum Staffing.

Enda Kenny

Question:

443 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the measures, if any, she is taking to sort out the difficulties involving staff shortages in the National Museum of Ireland; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14838/97]

There has been no reduction in staff numbers in the National Museum of Ireland since my appointment as Minister. In fact 27 full-time appointments - the majority of which relates to the Collins Barracks development - have been made since I came into office. I will continue to make every effort to secure the necessary staff resources for my Department, having regard to Government policy on staffing numbers.
