Vol. 480 No. 6

Written Answers - Legal Aid Centres.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

523 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will provide a legal aid centre in South Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14866/97]

A part-time law centre is operated by the Legal Aid Board in the Citizen's Information Centre at 14 Wellington Street, Clonmel, County Tipperary. This service is provided by the solicitor from the full-time law centre in Nenagh and is available on the first, second and third Monday of every month. The quality of the service provided by the board is kept under constant review and action is taken, where necessary, to meet particular demand, subject of course to budgetary constraints. At present, I have no plans to expand the Legal Aid Board services in South Tipperary to provide a full-time centre there.
