Question:

63 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Defence the plans, if any, he has for the army apprentice schools in Naas, County Kildare. [15054/97]

Arrangements are at present being made to hold a competition for the recruitment of 17 apprentices, ten of whom will be assigned to the Apprentice School, Naas, County Kildare. It is expected that advertisements will appear in the national newspapers on Friday, 3 October and Sunday 5 October. Interviews will be held during the month of November. No decision has been made to close the Army Apprentice School in Naas.
