Question:

124 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of vessels which have been approved by his Department for the transportation of shipments of live cattle out of Ireland; and their combined carrying capacity. [15450/97]

Nine vessels currently stand approved under the Diseases of Animals (Carriage of Cattle by Sea) Order, 1996 for the transportation of live cattle from Ireland. The combined capacity of these vessels is about 15,000 animals.
