Written Answers. - Bovine Tuberculosis Testing Programme.
The 1997 bovine tuberculosis eradication programme is operating on similar lines to the 1996 programme. The programme includes a full monitor of the 7.6 million animals together with consequential testing of reactor and contiguous herds. Research projects, including the specialised work of the TB Investigation Unit, are also being continued.
Discussions are ongoing with the various organisations under the auspices of the Animal Health Forum which reviews the performance of the 1997 programme on a continuing basis.
