Written Answers. - International Financial Services Centre.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

60 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Finance the number of companies which, having established an office or a presence in the International Financial Services Centre, have actually terminated their operations and have ceased to trade; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15706/97]

Since the establishment of the International Financial Services Centre in 1987, 37 stand alone self-managed companies which had been approved and certified to carry on trading operations in the centre have ceased to trade.

A further 108 companies being managed on an agency basis by stand alone self-managed operations in the IFSC have also ceased to trade.
