Vol. 481 No. 3

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Question:

34 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Health and Children when a consultant orthodontist will be appointed on a permanent basis in the North-Eastern Health Board region in view of the fact that 2,182 children and adolescents in this area have been waiting for two years for orthodontic treatment. [15790/97]

The North-Eastern Health Board has endeavoured, on a number of occasions, to appoint a consultant orthodontist through the Local Appointments Commission but so far without success. The board proposes to have the vacancy readvertised later this year.
