Vol. 481 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

John Browne

Question:

225 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the plan to spend £60,000 on the renovation of the Garda station in Muine Bheag, Carlow still stands; and if so, if he will give a progress report in this regard. [16189/97]

It is proposed to refurbish the Garda station at Muine Bheag. Tenders were invited earlier in the year but only one contractor responded. The price was well in excess of the expected cost. Because of this it was decided to defer the project. It is hoped that the contract will be retendered and placed perhaps later in the year or in 1998.
