Vol. 481 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Application Procedures.

Question:

48 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has to simplify the procedures for seeking grants for the provision or improvement of an individual water supply to a private dwellinghouse; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16315/97]

In order to assist local authorities with the efficient administration of this grant scheme, my Department prepared a standard application form and detailed explanatory memorandum which provides potential applicants with detailed information on all aspects of the scheme.

I am not aware that any of the procedures involved in applying for a grant are superfluous to the need to ensure compliance with the conditions of the grant scheme and I have, therefore, no proposals to change the procedures.
