Vol. 481 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sustainable Development.

Willie Penrose

Question:

54 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he intends to implement the proposals contained in the Sustainable Development Strategy for Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16279/97]

Sustainable Development: A Strategy for Ireland was approved by Government in April 1997, and provides a wide-ranging overview of environment and sustainable development issues. On implementation, the Government will be bringing a sharper focus to practical priorities against the background of the analysis contained in the strategy. In particular, real participation across society in delivering sustainable development will be provided for by the establishment of the National Environment Partnership Forum.
