Vol. 481 No. 6

Written Answers - Dublin-Maynooth Railway Line.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

116 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she will include funding for the upgrading of the Dublin-Maynooth railway line in any review of the EU funds available for such purposes. [16748/97]

I am very much aware of the proposals for upgrading the Dublin-Maynooth line and I recently met a delegation from the Dublin 15 area to discuss this issue. The requirements of the Dublin-Maynooth service are being evaluated as part of the review of Dublin's suburban rail development needs which is being undertaken by CIE at present. I can assure the Deputy that the possibility of seeking EU funding for the line will be fully considered in the light of the conclusions of this review.
