Vol. 481 No. 6

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

137 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education and Science when the next stage of the Ashbourne community school, County Meath will be approved by his Department; when he envisages that documents will be ready to go to tender for the extension; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16605/97]

The project to extend Ashbourne community school is at stage two of architectural planning. The Department has been in consultation with the design team and it is expected that the project will be ready to proceed to the next stage of planning shortly. I am not in a position to say when construction will commence. However, every effort is being made to expedite the architectural planning process so that construction can begin at the earliest possible date.
