Vol. 481 No. 6

Written Answers - Schools Accommodation.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

63 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science if he proposes to respond to the offer made to his Department by the Galway School Project in relation to funding of a permanent home for the school which has been granted recognition some time ago. [16718/97]

I met recently with representatives of the Galway School Project concerning the school's accommodation needs.

The Deputy will be aware that school ownership at primary level is among the issues currently being examined by the Commission on School Accommodation. At present it is not open to the Department to acquire sites for denominational or multi-denominational schools.
