Vol. 481 No. 7

Written Answers. - Road Transport Services.

John Browne

Question:

128 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the plans, if any, she has to update the Road Transport Act, 1932, which allows her Department to give licences to bus owners to provide a service on certain routes but prevents officials at her Department from revealing to outsiders the actual time allotted on those schedules. [16976/97]

As I indicated in reply to Question No. 36 on 1 October 1997, I intend to bring forward proposals in due course designed to facilitate the development of a healthy, competitive public transport industry. In the course of developing these legislative proposals, I will consider the issue raised by the Deputy in his question.
