Vol. 481 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cow and Sheep Quotas.

Ulick Burke

Question:

159 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department has finalised the division of cow quota and sheep quota between persons (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17165/97]

The original holder of the suckler cow and ewe premium quotas is now deceased and there is an agreement in place to divide the suckler cow quota among four of his children.

One of the children has taken over the original herdnumber together with the entire ewe premium quota of 80 premium rights and a suckler cow quota of six premium rights. A further seven suckler cow premium rights have been transferred to a son who has his own herdnumber. The proposed transfer of quota to one of the remaining two children will be effected in the near future following the allocation of a herdnumber to him.
The proposed transfer to the fourth child cannot be effected as she does not have a herdnumber and my Department has no record of having received an application for a herdnumber from her.
