Vol. 481 No. 7

Written Answers. - Health Board Appointments.

Ulick Burke

Question:

195 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Health and Children when the current vacant posts of dentists in the Western Health Board area in County Galway will be filled in order to restore the service to school children and the public in Galway east. [17144/97]

The Western Health Board is responsible for the management of health services, including the employment of staff, in its own area. Current personnel policy for the health service provides that health agencies which are managing resources within allocation may arrange to fill non-consultant replacement posts, including dental posts, without recourse to the Department.

I understand that vacancies for dental surgeons are currently being processed by the Local Appointments Commission.
