Written Answers. - Civil Service Posts.

Willie Penrose

Question:

219 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the correspondence, if any, he has received from a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath regarding an examination and review of the grade of managerial post at the employment exchange, Mullingar, County Westmeath from 14 November 1975 to 24 January 1989; his views on whether the post should have been upgraded to the status of higher executive officer; if this review has been carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17053/97]

The person concerned was manager of the local office and retired in 1991. He has periodically sought retrospective review of the status of the manager post.

The manager post was upgraded in 1993 to that of higher executive officer. However, there is no question of the upgraded status being applied retrospectively.
