Vol. 481 No. 7

Written Answers. - Council of People with Disabilities.

Paul Bradford

Question:

19 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the funding, if any, he will provide to the Council of People with Disabilities for 1998; the proposals, if any, he has submitted to the Department of Finance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16996/97]

My Department has made £300,000 available to the interim Irish Council of People with Disabilities in respect of 1997. In addition, arrangements were made with the Office for Public Works for the provision of rent free office accommodation in Con Colbert House. This arrangement has applied since the inception of the interim council in March 1997.

The question of the allocation from my Department to the interim council in respect of 1998 is being pursued in the context of the departmental Estimates. The allocation for 1998 will be announced in conjunction with the publication of the Book of Estimates for 1998.
