Dáil Éireann debate -

Vol. 481 No. 7

Written Answers. - Legislative Review.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

25 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the review of the Equal Status Bill, announced by the previous Government arising from the decision of the Supreme Court, has been completed; if not, when it is expected to be completed; when he will bring an amended Bill before Dáil Éireann; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17006/97]

Consideration of the provisions of the Equal Status Bill in the light of the reference of it and of Employment Equality Bill to the Supreme Court is continuing and will be finalised as soon as possible. I would hope that the Bill can be published during 1998.
