103 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the function, if any, he has in relation to the travelling community; and the action, if any, he will take in the next ten months in relation to those responsibilities. [17090/97]
I will co-ordinate the monitoring of the implementation of the recommendations of the Task Force on the Travelling Community and I intend to establish a mechanism for this purpose in the near future. I would stress that the responsibility for implementing particular recommendations rests with the Minister to whose area the recommendations relates.
Discrimination on grounds of membership of the travelling community will be prohibited under the equality legislation I am preparing.
