Bernard Allen

Question:

101 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the steps, if any, he has taken for the provision of tax relief and allowances on approved sports and leisure projects similar to the urban renewal and other schemes. [17488/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 98 and 101 together.

An Action Programme for the Millennium identified a range of policy issues in relation to the provision of sports facilities. It is my intention to review sports policy and, in this context, the possibility of more joint venture provision of national and regional sports and recreational facilities, including tax incentives to encourage private sector involvement will be considered.
