Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cardiology Service.

Tony Gregory

Question:

187 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7, who has been in hospital for the past month, will get an angiogram blast in view of the fact that the hospital authorities have said there are currently no funds to carry out this procedure. [17635/97]

I have had inquiries made of the hospital authorities regarding this individual patient case and I have been advised that a number of factors contributed to this patient not being able to have his cardiology treatment carried out during October. These factors included the volume of patients requiring cardiology treatment and renovations to the cardiovascular laboratory. The renovations are due to be completed on 10 November 1997 and the hospital authorities have assured me that they will then make every effort to have the patient re-admitted immediately.
