Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

245 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will increase the block grant for roads to Kildare County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17800/97]

Kildare County Council received a non-national road grant allocation of £5.877 million in 1997 which is an increase of £1.077 million or 22 per cent on the 1996 payments figure. Funds available for road grants in 1997 have been fully allocated and there are no additional funds available to me for issue to any local authority. Allocations for 1998 will be determined as soon as possible.
